The bowling green

The green usually opens mid to late April on a date decided on by the executive committee and closes again in September. It is really the weather and the available daylight that dictates how long the season extends.

We have our green professionally maintained and are proud of the excellent bowling surface that we can offer members and visiting players.

You should always wear a pair of flat soled shoes on the green. These shoes should be worn only when you are preparing to go onto the green. This is to minimise the risk of bringing disease on to the green.

Children are encouraged to use the green but must be supervised by an adult.

There is no smoking on the green or in the clubhouse, nor within the signed areas of the verandah. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Members may use the green any time that it is free, unless the groundsman has closed it for any reason, in which case a sign will be placed at the gate to that effect. *

Club members may bring visitors to use the green, provided they have the required footwear. They are welcome to use our equipment if they don’t have their own. Visitors (i.e. non members) should be charged £2 each for each hour they use the green and the hosting member should pass the money to the Treasurer at the earliest opportunity.
